What It Covered:

The Commercial Areas Working Group reviewed the District’s zoning regulations with respect to the regulation of commercial areas of the District, exclusive of the Downtown Development area.  Through this review process, gaps and problems associated with the existing regulations were be identified and potential solutions were proposed and discussed.

The identified gaps and problems related to the fulfilliment of the policies and action items of the District’s Comprehensive Plan, as well as objectives of other District policy documents and initiatives.  These documents included enacted Small Area Plans and components of the Retail Action Strategy.

Working Group Update - September 29, 2010

The Office of Planning has reviewed the recommendations for Commercial Areas with the Zoning Review Task Force.  The final recommendations, to heard by the Zoning Commission at a public hearing to be held on the 25th of October, 2010, are now available for review in the Documents section below.
